Hello all. Yes I am new to the Corvette world. So new that I haven't purchased one yet. Long story short had a 600HP mustang that I sold prior to my deployment. Will be home in a few months and would like to pick up a Lemans Blue vette. 2006/2007 doesn't matter. The end state is 650/750whp. Yes I realize that there are many threads on this but my internet time is EXTREMELY LIMITED. Only get a chance to get on every couple of weeks. That being said I need to basic 101 intro to the Corvette world. I am willing to spend the money needed to support his lofty hp request. It may have to be done over time but so be it. The Army doesn't pay much. I will most likely go with a forged block(any suggestions) and some kind of blower set up (again any thoughts or recomendations). Don't want nitrous or a car that is strung so tight that I can't enjoy taking my daughter out for a Sunday cruise. If you have knowledge or opinions on the subject let me know. Please don't tell me to look it up. The time is just no there. Last question is there any recommended shops in the Washington DC mid Atlantic region. Thanks in advance for everyones help!

Thank you for your service.

Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!

I can't help you, just wanted to say, for advice on going the Naturally Aspirated route, usually heads/cam/cold air, the guys in this forum will help you out.

For Forced Induction advice, ask in the C6 Forced Induction Forum here:

Best of luck, come home safe. Enjoy the Forums.

I don't have any helpful info for you sorry! But THANK YOU for your service man! The only thing I can think of is the fact you are even considering a new block right off the get-go, and you are looking at forced induction- if it was me I might look into saving money and buying a c6 with a blown motor or salvage title and then just order up a done crate motor so you can get forged pistons/ options that support the forced induction and do it all right the 1st time to save failures/$ etc. just my .02

Not much you really need to know. Buy the car, purchase a blower kit from either A&A or ECS, a meth system, and exhaust and you will see your power numbers with no problems. With a good tune on meth the engine should run for a very long time. When it eventually blows up, go forged. When the clutch lets go, get a better one. Replacing tires will be your worst problem!

Yeah I hear you on the not much money part. I'm an E-5 so pay is OK if your single. To be honest with you, you should wait till the winter time to pick up an already built one at a killer deal. You may have to be flexible on the color though, that's what I did. After dropping 30K into my GTO building it myself then taking a killing on selling it to a very lucky new owner I've learned that it is better to just buy it built already. At least with the blower, drivetrain and fuel already sorted out. Then you could forge the motor yourself for piece of mind. Or do a leak down on the sellers forged motor to see how much life is left in it.
