Default More fuel fun

This morning on my way into work my fuel pressure gauge went to zero and back up to 60 twice. For those that don't know I'm on my second new fuel pump in less then a 1000 miles. I already have a racetronix harness and have removed the BAP. This happened at cruise speed at low RPM. So does my gauge just have a short in it or should I be looking at good deals on a new fuel pump? I was also thinking that where my BAP was spliced in may be a bad connection now ( it was spliced into the gray wire behind the battery) I may redo that tonight. Thanks for any help

One other thing, it ran fine when the gauge read zero.

If the pump sputtered for a quick second you will not notice without looking at the gauges because there's plenty of fuel still in the lines. I would start by checking the gauge for a bad connection. If a wire is lose you can try and find out by moving the wires around and see if the gauge starts to flicker. If so, then that's your problem.

On the other hand, seeing that you're on your 2nd new pump in less than a month is leading me to believe that something may be wrong that's causing the pump to go bad. If so, then you're 2nd pump might be starting to dig itself an early grave.

When you replace the pump, did you replace the entire assembly with new plugs?
When you first replaced your pump did you still have your BAP on there?

0 fuel pressure means the engine is not running. Since the engine continued to run, I doubt you had 0 fuel pressure. You have a bad connection in the gauge/wiring.

I'm thinking bad connection too. BUT, the first fuel pump caused my engine to let go and the second one left me stranded in Duluth. So you can imagine how happy on was on my way to work this morning.

I hope you get this figured out. I'd take a multimeter to every section of wiring to ensure continuity, and make sure your relays all fit in the fuse block snugly as well. You know my history with similar issue and I hope all turns out well.

You might want to try hotwiring your pump to run with a hose connected at the fuel rail and just run through all of your gas a few times and make site there is no sputtering.

Best of luck to you for sure.

Also check the ground wire behind the back of the driver side rear tire. Its a 10mm nut on a stud on the frame. I see a lot of times when drivetrain work is done they are left loose. This is the ground for the fuel pump.

I do like your car a lot but.....

The sensor for the fuel gauges haven't been known for their 100 percent function.

While driving at a steady rate of 70 mph my tank gage went to zero and I received the message "Service Fuel System". The Tech was able to reset the "fuel sending unit" and I have not had any other problems.

My fuel gauge continued to read the correct fuel level, my fuel pressure gauge is what went to zero and back twice. It did not happen on the ride home.

just an update; I went to check the ground wire in the rear fender, i found a couple things when I removed the liner. 1. The ground wire was tight. 2. The BAP was still there but the fuse had been pulled. 3. My racetronix harness was left unhooked when the new fuel pump was installed. So i hooked the factor fuel pump back up to my racetronix harness. Not sure this will do anything but it makes me feel better
