Default Livernois 1C cam

Does anyone have any experience with this cam in an LS3. I have seen some "+" comments on the Pontiac G8 forum. In light of the recent thread about the ZR-1 cam adding 30 rwhp to a more or less stock motor... I would think this cam would at least equal that. I have also considered the Lingenfelter GT11 but the lift seems pretty . I have an A6 2008 and have also considered as an additional option(s) a ported intake and and Z06 exhaust to go with the cam. This is my DD.

The idle might be less than "smoother than stock". That seems to be important for some reason. I'd bet it would outperform the LS9 cam in all realms other than cost.

I wouldn't waste the time and $$$ of a cam swap for only 30 HP. I would make sure if I was gettign a new cam it would make some good power.

Cam selection really depends on what your objective is.

First, do you want peak horsepower on the Dyno or do you want to increase torque across the normal RPM range?

Second, what compromise are you willing to accept to driveablity? In my case, I had Lingenfelter ported 243 heads, GT-11 cam, headers, Yelle Terra 1.7 rockers, ported FAST 92 and got 457 rwhp. The car idles dead smooth at 675 rpm and makes good torque along the whole RPM range. Would a bigger cam make more Dyno power? Absolutely. But I was not willing to compromise on the idle or low speed driveability. In my case, I am happy with the GT-11. I have 16,000 miles and the lift does not concern me because the valve train has been upgrade. If the springs need to be changed sooner, its not a big deal.

Third, you have to consider the total package...you heads, cam, intake, headers. If you just want add 30 rwhp, you can do that without changing cams.

I started the thread on the ZR1 cam and the reason that cam was selected was the owner planned to add a super charger and Z06 exhaust system. His plan was to use stock parts first to see how much his LS3 would gain. With just the cam and exhaust added something like 51 rwhp and it idled as good if not better than stock. He would not have used the ZR1 cam if he did not plan on installing a supercharger. With the S/C he is now at ~630 rwhp.
