Default G.s. Crankshafts

Does the dry sump version motor on g.s. Also have abetter crank?.i know it is longer but is it a stronger crank then in tha automatic versions? Thanks j.k.

Well, the dry sump engines have a forged crank vs. cast. Better? Basically yes. Does it mean anything if you aren't racing or adding HP mods?

How much more h.p. Mods can the stock crank take before you need to beef it up also?j.k.

Same crank as is used in the 638 HP LS9, except for the number of bolts that attach the flywheel.

stock crank will hold quite a bit everyone has their opinions but i wouldnt hesitate to run 800 horse on one

i thought the crank was forged on the manual transmission versions of g.s...........if i bump the power up 100 or 150 h.p. will it still be fairly reliable.can the differential handle more then stock?thanks j.k.

The weak link is normally the pistons when you push the engines hard. 100-150 additional rwhp can be very reliable. Reliability and longevity very much depend on how you drive your car though.

Last month's Hot Rod magazine had an list of what breaks at what power level on the LS3. It said the cranks are good to about 900 flywheel HP. Just about everything else will go before the crank.
