Crazy story: One day, my key fob died, so I got a new battery. That didn't work, so I ordered a new replacement FOB. It came with a detailed procedure for resetting...but the car can't get past the first stage, which is to actually recognize the new FOB! I've read that these FOBs, when inserted in the small, glovebox recepticle, will work even without a battery. I called my dealer, and he said to flatbed the car in. Problem is, that the car won't go into neutral, and is deep within the garage. (Catch-22.) Any suggestions? Is there a way to default ALL the existing codes?

Reason: typo
Be sure the new battery was put in the old fob correctly. The positive side of the battery goes down. If you still want to program the new fob, use this short procedure to add a fob. If there were already 2 fobs programmed for that car, the new fob will be added as the next fob #.
Okay, I was in a hurry to go somewhere when I posted that info. above.
Let me clarify a few points.
1. The old fob is the only one that will work in the slot in the glovebox until the new fob has been programmed for your car.
2. I do not know whether the battery has to be in the old fob or not in order to work in the slot. Some here have said the old dead battery must be in the old fob when you put the fob in the slot to start the car, some have said it will work without the battery in it.
3. The new fob will not work in the slot in the glovebox until it has been programmed for your car.
4. There are 2 different procedures for programming a new fob.
5. The longer procedure, which may be found in the owner's manual, and which has also been posted here, but it's been awhile, is used to reprogram all existing fobs. This programs both the old and the new fobs, beginning with creating a fob #1 and a fob #2, etc.
6. The shorter program, for which I have posted a link above, will only add new fobs to your car. If only one fob was ever previously programmed for your car, the next fob it programs will be #2, and will have memory options. If 2 fobs have previously been programmed for your car, this procedure will program the new fob as #3 and it will not have any memory options. All the new fob can do is lock/unlock the car and start the engine if it has been programmed as fob #3 or fob #4.
Try again to get the old fob to work first. Take it apart, be sure the battery was inserted correctly, then while the fob is still open, lightly press on the back of the battery at 2 or 3 places around the circumference of the battery. Put the fob back together and try it, both normally, then again with it in the slot.

Worst case scenario: Use a floor jack under the rear, jack it up and push it out to where a flat bed can get to it.
Hopefully it wont come to that.
I had that issue when I got my '08 and accidentally wiped out all the fobs from memory. I had to flatbed my car to the Chevy dealer where they took care of it. Good Luck!
Do you have a second fob?? Or only one with the car??? Sometimes you need a working fob to reprogram the other, if not, you need to do the long program...Make sure the fob buttons face towards the passenger door and has the keyring side facing the seat... 5 key turns in the rear trunk slot and then (3) 30 minute countdowns pushing the lower part of start button between each 30 minutes...Does the DIC read no fobs detected???
