I can't remmeber the brand or the temp rating but I thought it was high enough. I'm only NA. Any chance the flaking material could get sucked into the engine and damage it? The headers are coated inside and out
no real worries about it going back in and hurting anything. that sucks id be pissed i have never seen any flake off. but i have only seen coatings from the major companies who do it. yours i assume has to be from a lesser quality coater.

The exhaust side should never see vacuum to pull anything into the engine. I would think your car will be fine. I would definitely call the coating company if you remember which one and see if they are willing to do anything for you.

That sucks! Are they steel or stainless steel headers, just curious...
I've heard several people comment that on stainless steel headers that coatings aren't really neccassary because of the insulating values of stainless over standard steel.

Is that true ?
Not really. Stainless has a lower heat conductivity than most other steels, but it is still very conductive compared to coatings.

The benefit of thermal coatings is the reduction of under hood temperature. Stainless Steel's main benefit is anti-corrosion. A coated set of headers made of a standard steel will rust. Coating or not, 304 will not corrode. Adding a high temp coating just adds to the already timeless appearance of high quality stainless steel.
Did you know you can clean our stainless steel with a scotchbrite pad?
