And it cost me $800! Does this sound right.? With the bad pump it never went over 198 now it consistently runs in the 200's. The temp has been 55 with little wind. I just got it back yesterday and they said (even though I asked them to put in a new thermo) that they did nod replace the thermo. Does this make sense?
215 is nothing to be worried about. my car runs at 180 to 190 in summer here in houston with a/c blastin, but i have cold thremo and reprogrammed fans to come on at lower temps. you could always to that its cheap.
Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles is the issue I believe. I had a similar issue recently. Jacking up the front driver side of the car helped remove the air in the system faster for me.
Start up the car and jack up the front driver side where the wheel is an inch off the ground or so. Within a few minutes the system will be burping the bubbles out and temps steady where they should be.

How was the water pump bad if it never went over 198*?
make sure the fan is plugged in. run the engine with the cap off the coolant bottle & the heat on for 10-15 minutes and the air will purge itself out, top off coolant & replace cap.
