Sorry if my question is very basic and somewhat silly, but i am a very new owner of a yellow 2007 C6. I wanted to order new front + back brake pads, and noticed that most online stores offer two types:
- Rear+ Front pads, corvette, w/o z06, w/o heavy duty brakes
- Rear + Front pads, corvette, w/o z06, w/heavy duty brakes, 6.0l

So, whats the difference between the two? will they both fit my car? because the price difference between the two is pretty high

The brake pads for the heavy duty brakes and the standard brakes are the same. The heavy duty brakes use larger diameter rotors and the identical caliper the base car uses. Not sure why there would be a cost difference unless the pads for the heavy duty brakes have a different compound but that shouldn't make a large difference either. What brand and type of pad are you looking for?

I just checked KNS Brakes a forum vendor and the pads for the two are the same cost.

I just need oem replacement front and back pads thats it. But got confused when i saw these two options !!! my C6 came with slotted rotors. So which pads will i need to get now?

GM didn't deliver cars with slotted rotors so you have aftermarket rotors. Check the RPO list on the glove box door and see if you have FE3 and Z51 or F55 showing in the list of of options. The Z51 and I believe the F55 cars got the heavy duty brakes which came with larger drilled rotors.

GM didn't offer slotted rotors so you have aftermarket rotors. Drilled rotors came with the heavy duty brakes and the only difference between them and the base rotors other than the drill holes was the diameter. Z51 and I believe F55 cars got the heavy duty brakes. Check your RPO sticker in the glove box for either of those two options.

I checked a couple of other forum vendors that have GM parts and it looks like their common web pricing tool may be screwed up. They have the base brake pad kits priced the same as the Z06 brake pad kits and those two kits are considerably different. The Z06 kit includes the pad pin bolts which run well over $100 from almost any supplier. If you are trying to purchase from GM Parts House or Parts Taxi I would suggest calling them directly. Either Gene or Kevin will work with you to make sure you get the correct part at a good price.

Thanks for trying to help me out here. I checked in my glove box, there is a huge list and i just got more confused lol
I also tried to check my VIN online but couldnt get the info i needed> i asked the previous owner and he said the car came with slotted disks. the VIN is : 1G1YY26U475104188

i forgot to mention that i'm located in the gulf region and local GM dealers dont know anything.They charge around $300 for front and $300 for back pads. Thats crazy, I never thought buying brake pads would be so hard.

 

The VIN shows your car came with F55 and J55 (Heavy Duty Brakes). VIN also indicates the car was delivered to the Persian Gulf. You can try and email GMPartsHouse or Parts Taxi and see what they can do about shipping parts to you.
