Curious if anyone knows if an 02 z diff internals would fit into an 05 diff

Whether they fit or not, a better question might be is it worth the effort to install anything in the 05 diff.

There may be some parts that'll transfer over to the 05 but as stated above, why would you want to do that. It's not the internals that are weak in the 05s, it's the case itself. The ring and pinion in the C5Z are treated so that adds a bit of strength. I usually hear guys bust their cases before they bust their internals.

I was one of the guys that always said "I'm not worried....it won't happen to me!" Famous last words. Usually when it happens it also takes out the trans mainshaft.

Pretty wasted. The bad part is I didn't hear a thing. I just thought my new Spec clutch gave up. moral of the story is...get rid of it while it still has a core value!

While I totally agree with the why would you I will explain. I spent a ton of money on my C5 Z unit and had all the upgraded internal done including both hardened halfshafts and the market to sell isn't all that sooooooooooo I'm thinking just install the guts into my Caddy XLR, which is an auto, and give it some pep. I won't be racing that heavy thing....maybe a street brawl with a G35 or whatever..but mostly not abusing it. Just a thought. Can you buy nothing but a case from an 06 on up? And will everything swap over?
