I'm thinking of doing a cam install so I called up the local shop and they gave me a quote for 3300. Now this includes everything for the cam install plus a cam sensor and harness since mine is acting up. Car is a 2007 corvette does this sound right or outragously high.
Labor is most likely 10-12 hrs. Depending on bill out rate, that could be up to $1500 alone. If it comes with ALL of the supporting parts (pushrods, springs, gaskets, timing chain, fluids) it still seems a bit high.
I would recommend an itemized quote so you can see each item that you're being charged for.
also ask if they have C6 experience..............try and find someone who they have done work on their C6. also ask if that price includes tuning on the dyno. very important when doing this large of a change.
Good point. If the price includes tune and dyno time, you should be close as far as price is concerned. I would consider a DIY if you have any mechanical ability. Not difficult, just a lot of stuff in the way. There are plenty of good write ups on the install.
I just finished mine a few weeks ago and can say from experience that it wasn't tough at all.
Holy crap. I would call around. I've had several quotes in the 800-1000 range for labor and many shops do cam packages at or right under 2k including dynotuning.

Yea I was thinking it would be around the 2200-2400 range. The 3300 price includes tuning and everything(atleast I think). The shop does mostly corvettes. For the price I was thinking of doing it myself I have done 3 cam swaps in ls vehicles, but none were vetts. I'm going to call them tuesday and get a full breakdown of the costs.
