Fuel Delivery issues
Drove it around the block and the engine was backfiring when letting off the gas. Came to stop sign and car started hesitating and barely got it home. Tried to restart it in garage but would not.
Check I had plenty of fuel, about 1/8 to 1/4 tank. Using Rock Valley stainless tank with internal pump/regulator.
Checked fuel pump fuse, it was good, replaced it anyway.
Put 12 volts to fuel pump, it was working.
Checked fuel pressure at the rail, was showing 0.
Checked all the grounds with Power Probe and they showed good.
Got a code checker and it was showing P0230, Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Malfunction.
Hoping it was the Fuel Relay, I tested it and it was not clicking, so replaced it. Tried starting the car, still will not start and fuel pressure is still zero. I could hear the fuel pump spin up and prime it for first 2 seconds. Would crank it, then stop and could hear the fuel pump prime it again and stop. Checked the fuel relay connector, I'm getting 12 volts on 1 wire and rest are grounds. When you turn ignition to on, another wire goes to 12 V, assume that is to fuel pump, so ECM seems to be talking to relay ok.
At this point, I'm stuck. Last thing to try is replacing the fuel pump as the regulator could be bad? Not sure how to test it?
Thanks in advance
