I pulled my drive train today the replace the differential and when I pulled transmission case away from the differential I found what turned out to be the end pin from one of the two shift lever guide bolts stuck in the magnet at the bottom of the case. The two shift lever guide bolts are located in the top of the transmission case. I have had no problem with the transmission . The trans. shifted great. The bin end of the bolt was broken off and the bolt head was still in the top of the case. The pin had to migrated to the rear of the transmission with no sign of damage.
Has anyone ever seen this happen?
I have seen the bolts broken, its kinda odd that the transmission shifts just fine though. I can see how it could shift fine though. I have these bolts in stock if you need a pair just give us a call. 1-800-406-1109

Thank you for your fast response. This thought of a part roaming around in my transmission was not a nice thought .
I called your 800 number and was greeted by Jerome who explained the function of the shift guide pin and gave me guidance on replacing it .
Knowing that there is zero information in the GM factory service manual Jerome is drawing me a sketch of the area of the shift mechanism that the pin is located to make it easier to understand its function.
When I need a rebuilt transmission RPM will be my supplier.
Thank Jerome for me.
