Default New Clutch Recommendation.

I hope all is well with everybody.

I was in need of some advice and cant seem to find the answer to my question anywhere.

I'm thinking about replacing my clutch and the only mods I have are I/H/E with a tune maybe mild mild cams down the line but thats it. My question is what clutch should I get to replace my stock C6??

I drive the car everyday and have been hearing about Centerforce and Exedy. Which one is better and which clutch do you guys think would be best?

Thanks in advance!

I am no expert but I seem to think the stock clutch can easily handle more power than you will have, along with normal pedal effort and great driveability. I would get another OEM clutch if it was me. That is unless they cost alot more than aftermarket???

In my opinion if you do not drag race run the stock clutch. If your car sees the track at all with any kind of sticky tire upgrade the clutch. They will stick to the floor even on a stock car once you get a nicee burnout and get the clutch heated up at all.

my 2 cents

Sounds good. But could i put in an aftermarket flywheel to reduce the rotational mass? It would be nice to have the engine revving quicker than it is. I was going to do the whole clutch and flywheel swap. I know the stock can be resurfaced.

If you don't dragrace, I'd get the LS7 clutch. It will handle your power. It's cheap, too.

Look at the Katech LS9X/LS9R clutch & flywheel setup. Lots of us are using it and it's seriously nice. Drives like stock (really.)

PM RichieRichZ06 for a good deal.

I have similar mods, I just did an LS7 clutch and flywheel. Contact Mike at East Coast Performance. He sold me mine for a great deal. While your at it replace the slave and pilot. Throw in a remote bleeder too. I also put in ARP bolts all round.

The new clutch feels way better over my tired LS2 clutch. Good bang for the buck. It will handle the power fine.

There are better clutches out there but youll pay quite a few bucks more. Generally speaking (there are so many different clutches out there) you will have increased pedal pressure, and shorter transition. With a lightened F/W it does rev up quicker but it also revs down quicker. You need more RPM from a dead stop as well. IMO not the best for traffic or a DD, some may tell you otherwise though.

This seems a bit much for me. I do not think I will be pushing that much power to spend that much on this setup, but thank you. It does seem like a good package.

Clutch needs to be bled after installation. It is nasty to get to the bleeder. The remote gives you an easier way to get the air out of the line. Katech's is up by the clutch reservoir.

With bolt-on power our Level 1 is superior to the LS7 from disc to pressure plate design and will easily hold your power. Pedal effort is only 5% stiffer and has a more linear engagement. A Basic Kit with Lightweight 18lb Flywheel runs $679.99 and will rev faster along with freeing up ~8rwhp. We have a remote speed bleeder as well for an additional $59.99. Feel free to call me if you have any questions.
