Default Outside Air Temperature Reading

On page 3/28 of my 09 Owner's Manual it says that "If the outside air temperature goes up, the displayed temperature will not change until:
- the vehicle's speed is above 12 mph for 5 minutes or
-The vehicle's speed is above 32 mph for 2 1/2 minutes.

Mine suddenly started taking around 8 minutes with speeds above 32 mph to read the actual air temperature. And when it does start changing it seems as if the temperature doesn't go up to the outside temp immediately. Say it's reading 75 from the day before and it's 95 outside. So I drive and after say 8 minutes it goes up to 90 and then over the next few minutes it will gradually rise to 91 and 92 and 93 and finally 95.

Anyone else have this issue?

Mine too.

Somewhere on the forum I once read about hitting 3 A/C control buttons at once to get the temp to update pronto. But I forgot the details.
OK:
Rear Defrost (right most climate button)
Front Defog (2nd right most button)
Fan Speed Increase (4th right most button)

How do you know what the outside temp really is? Reported temps are for one location under specific conditions.

A good example is here in Austin, TX. The temp at Austin/Bergstrom can vary as much as 12° from the temp at Camp Mabry (maybe 10 miles?) away.

Ever ride a motorcycle and feel the chill when you ride into a low area? Or the heat radiating off the blacktop on a sunny day at a light?

Which is what you want to know in order to properly set your car's cabin temperature. That outside sensor uses that information, along with the sensor next to the start button to help your climate control system set the temperature you've asked for.

Let's not worry about how I know the outside temperature was 95 in the example I gave. The small area I drove around in suburban Phila doesn't vary in altitude, is not near water and doesn't vary in temperature. After 6 years in a C6 where I look at the outside temp often and know how it should function. Something has changed, so back to original question please about others similar experience and possible repairs. Please don't sound like a dealer service rep that says "oh that's normal."

Mine does this from time to time, always has.
One thing you can do is reboot the cars computers by disconnecting the battery for a short while, and see if the glitch corrects.

Is the outside temp sensor located in front of the pass ft wheel under/behind the rubber spoiler (yet visable) near the wheelwell?

Check it for damage/ cleanliness.

The OAT sensor is located on the passenger side of the condenser/radiator shroud. The wire connecter to it has a blue end cap and is visible from inside the engine compartment about half way down the shroud. It is held in place by a push pin next to the connecter. Removing and cleaning it may solve your problem. If not replace it. Good luck. Bill

Trying to remember the Manual-

On our 2006 and now 2009, I noticed that there seems to be some built-in lag to changes in the temp indication. The part of your post that I underlined seems to be similar to my experience- update rate slows as you get closer to the actual temp, if it doesn't display proper temp upon startup.
