I ran my car at the 1/8 track Friday with my new rims and drag radials (305/35/18 M/T ETII) the rims are 18x10.5. We made 6 or 7 passes during the night and came home with some cash in our pockets but I still was unable to get traction. We started off at 22psi and worked our way down to 17psi. 17psi was as low as I went and it did give me the best result. The transmission did get thrown off by the tire change and I kept bouncing on my rev limiter instead of shifting and one time it would not shift at all. The drag radials were better than factory for sure but I still spun off the line and broke lose at every shift. A light burn out did not do much but a medium burn out worked a little better. I took on all comers, and I did not sand bag anyone. The hardest race of the night was a truck!!!
Here is a video of me racing a LX with N2O. I will attach my time slips at the bottom. This was my strongest run of the night.
Reaction: (.1212 60’)( did not record)( 330’ 4.8211)( 1/8 7.3809sec 97.49mph)( margin 1.0574)
My hardest run of the night and the one I had the most money on was a TRUCK. I got called out to race a truck and I took the race without looking at the truck. I know it was not a smart move but I was getting a big head. The truck was a ½ ton 6 liter 150hp N2O and Hoosier drag radials. He came off the line with a 1.5 60’ and RED LITE; I still beat him even though he tripped the light and I hit the rev limiter pretty hard.
I know we are vett guys but my friend ran his Mustang and it is pretty fast. Sure would not mind having a Vett that can put down a 4 second 1/8 mile at 60% tune.
It doesn't seem like others were having problems hooking and you were running the right psi. So I'm guessing those DR are tired, no pun intended, and the pics appear to concur. I thought you might have some issues shifting, so I'd run the shorter tire and get that issue fixed...regardless good kills and look forward to you running faster!

Yeah my friend said the same thing, that the tires were cooked. I took the car to PowerFab Saturday and we worked on the tune. It is no longer hitting the rpm limiter. Do you think some VHT track Bite will get me hooked up until I can get some new tires?
Another thing to consider is without skinnies up front it's best to drive around the water box if possible and back into it, to avoid dragging up any water, but it sounds like you were spinning down track as well and not just off the line.

I like to use rubber cement personally the VHT is worth a shot, but nothing works as well as new rubber.
