Default Replace slave cylinder also?

Getting ready to do an LS7 clutch swap in my LS2 to better hold down the new power from my head and cam swap.

After doing some research, it appears that the LS2 and LS7 use the same slave cylinder. I have taken extremely good care of my existing slave by bleeding weekly using the ranger method, then adding a remote bleed during a torque tube rebuild. I have had zero issues with the slave and the fluid does not darken much, even during hard driving. Car only has 39k miles on it.

I'm looking for opinions of swapping out the slave while I'm in there again. Yes, I know it's a good idea but is it REALLY worth it? Could there be any adjustment or figment issues by not changing it (thought I read that a while back in a post).

Maybe some of the clutch experts or even Ranger himself can chime in on this. I'm not against spending the $200 for a new one but don't want to spend money if it's unnecessary.

It is so much work to yank the drivetrain to get at the clutch it makes sense to replace the slave and the pilot while you're in there. Also install a remote bleeder.

I'm leaning that way just out of conservativism. I'm looking for someone to tell me that it's not necessary because... I'm hunting for that answer.

Pilot bearing is a must, I agree. Already have remote clutch bleed.

Spend the two bills on a new slave and rest easy.

You're probably right. I had a moment of weakness, thanks for bringing me back to reality. Wifey is giving me major heat for spending too much on the car the past couple of months.

I put an LS7 clutch and F/W in and this is what I did. I also put in new ARP F/W and Pressure Plate bolts

Absolutely correct. There is no way in hell I'd put a partial replacement of the drivetrain. Too damn much work to tear it back open for a part.

i changed the slave but said F the pilot bearing, it looked a spun freely. i hate those things.

if your adding heads and cam to your ls2 I would upgrade beyond and ls7 clutch. My cam only ls3 was hurting the stock ls7

You should probably consider the LS9R clutch. Most of the LS7 guys are upgrading to it as the LS7 clutch will not tolerate any heat. One burnout and it's toast.

Only reason I went with LS7 clutch right now is the fact that I got is for a great price. on't plan on doing any drag racing, only the road course later this year.

BTW, ordered slave and pilot bearing last night.
