I have a strange problem with my manual coupe. When I get in the car with the key fob I depress the clutch with it in reverse gear and push the starter button and nothing happens just dead (no starting no radio no instruments). A few seconds later the dash board and instruments and radio come to life on their own and then if I push the starter button again the car starts as normal. Please advise.
Sounds like something is interrupting communication between FOB and car. Maybe low FOB battery, maybe low car battery, maybe cell phone/charger or similar device interfering. Any problem walking up to it when locked and it doesn't unlock immediately?

1. Separate the transmitter with a flat, thin object
inserted into the slot on the side or back of the
transmitter.
2. Remove the old battery. Do not use a metal object.
3. Insert the new battery, positive side facing down.
Replace with a CR2032 or equivalent battery.
4. Reassemble the transmitter.
I tried the second fob supplied to me by the dealer when I bought the car.
Car seems to be working correctly now; so I guess the first fob does need a new battery seems odd though since I have had the car less than a year. The battery in my fob on my c5 lasted 8 years without problems.
