Default Obx header system questions

Wanting to pull the trigger on exhaust for my 09 m6...the obx system from eBay seems like a great deal...two questions: is there any welding involved and will I need o2 extensions? If so, where can I get them. Any opinions on the exhaust would be appreciated.

1: no, 2: yes (unless you have them tuned out)

I wouldn't buy the OBX headers. I've heard lots of bad things. There are some reputable catless headers that will bolt directly to the stock midpipe if you want to go cheap or you can get something like the LG Street headers + x-pipe. Catless they run around $1050. With the cats around $1250. If you buy the set, most places will include the O2 extensions for nothing extra.

26in front and 32in rear...I have bought two sets and I am 50/50 with the product. My first set 07 coupe was fine other than finding out I needed very long 02 ext, but my second set 07 z06 were shipped to me in the 1 3/4 2.5in size instead of the 1 7/8 3in size and when I contacted them about it I got no response for 3 weeks. Finally I got a response and was told I could pay to ship them back for a refund, in other words me pay the freight for the headers from VA to CA just to get my money back! I would not recommend these unless you just like coin flips

I have the OBX headers on my Vette great fit nice stainless all polished nice quality and welds are clean, thick flanges, only problem and I didn't know it when I placed the order, cause I got in on a group buy off of the forum here, and being new I thought when you got in on a group buy you saved a lot of money, well they are made in china, mine have been on about 3 years now, they do the job, and except for right at the heads they still shine like the day I put them on.

I have no issues. My brother and I purchased them with no issues. PM for the seller name on ebay. My brother has an 2009 z06 so after he purchased them and installed, I was sold. Cannot beat the price. My brother can purchase whatever he wants but could not spend on metal and brand name. Now he is going with procharger for his setup. Good metal tubes.

Yes, you'll need front 02 extensions. The rears can be plugged and tuned out.

Don't listen to this guy. MANY happy OBX customers out there. They fit great and make great power.

Put obx long tubes and catted x on two days ago. Damn they are some great looking headers! Clamps are stainless band clamps, but not as good as the accuseals. You may want to buy some better 2.5" band clamps. They installed super easy on my 06 c6 A6. I ordered 26" front o2 ext of e**y. The guy that sells the extensions can make them any length you want for no extra charge. If you do get the headers, definitely use oem manifold gaskets(33bux). My 2cents oh and my installer only charged 269.00 to install which included 3 baseline dyno pulls before the install. After i get my ecs tune back i am going to do some more dyno pulls with a wideband.

You bet

Another thread about how they make the same power, fit great and look great for a fraction of the price

Now hopefully your one, unnecessary post doesn't derail this thread.

And hopefully your entirely unnecessary desire/need to actually point out my one, unnecessary post doesn't do the very same.

We're now an American Racing Header Dealer. PM or call me for prices too low to post! These are available in 1.875" Primaries with 3" catted mids and will our perform the OBX system for a few more dollars, but you get what you pay for and it's 4th of July so why not support an American Product

No issues with mine. I've beat on them on sustained high speed runs for extended periods of time over 650rwhp.

Thanks Mark, that's correct...Speedraider I'd recommend the 1.875" and 3" catted mid-pipe for an LS3 to breathe the best.

What did you dyno before and after you put them on? I have never seen any forum talk about the performance compared to proven named brands. I have all my perfoemance parts ready to be installed except headers. I hear that its A 75% chance you will have issues with the install. BUT WHAT ABOUT HP GAINS?? DO THEY STAND UP TO MORE EXPENSIVE BRANDS?
