Seat Memory and Exploding Driveshaft
The memory seat function on my fathers '10 GS seem to be not working some of the time. Some days it doesn't seem to work and is constantly having to be reset. Could he be opening the door too fast once the car is stopped? Anyone else have this problem?

Memory seat/Memory steering column problems are common.
Check all the connectors under the seat, and look for loose or pinched wires anywhere.
Re-set the positions, remembering that you have one set for fob #1 and another set for fob #2. Be sure he is in the correct conditions for the system, our A6 requires being in Park, manuals need the parking brake set (I think).
Finally, some C6's seem to have this as an unsolvable intermittant problem. On our 2009, it was intermittant and getting more frequent. Under warranty, the dealer checked all the connections and replaced the memory module. That fixed it for about two months, then it started up again. After about three more months, it fixed itself. No problems for the last 4 months. That sounds like a loose connection but we can't find anything.

The car is back and working fine for now. The seat is remembering.
Yes, that shaft would not be nice to catch. When it finally hit the ground it did a high bounce. A '71 Brabham came around the corner and hit it square. It broke his front left suspension and cast aluminum pedal assembly. I've had all kinds of things bounce over my head in that car.
