Default LS7 heads removal

I plan to have the valve guides and exhaust valves replaced on my bone stock 2006 z06, I live in Canada so I want to remove the heads myself (I have the shop manuals but am not a mechanic) and send to WCCH is there any advice / caveats you would give to a do it yourselfer? Thnx

Keep everything clean - follow process - don't cut corners.

Good choice using WCCH. They just rebuild my heads and do excellent work.

When removing the head bolts, leave the head bolts screwed in about 1/2 inch then lift the head up so the excess coolant drains out (less coolant in the bolt holes). Then make sure you use q-tips or rolled-up paper towels to get all the coolant out of the head bolt holes. This is important so you don't end up with a cracked block.

Remove all hardware from heads..ie: coolant plugs, sensors, fittings etc. Sometimes these parts don't make it back to the owner and can be a pia because GM seldom stocks this stuff. Take pictures so you remember where everything goes.

Use ARP head bolts instead of TTY oem ARP's are worth the few extra $$.

You may also want to purchase an extra tube of molly grease ahead of time (apply a small amount to the bolts/washers). The small packet that ARP provides isn't really enough if you are a little messy like me.
