speedometer jumping
i am having rear differential replaced. ring and pinion going out. and now my speedometer is jumping around. i read where sensor for speedmoeter is on top of differential. anyone know how to fix this problem buy a new sensor???

I guess I forgot to post my results. For me it ended up being the vehicle speed sensor on top of the diff. Could have been the cable harness being loose not sure. I doesn't cost much and can be done rather easily IF 1) you can get yourself under the car...safely and 2) contort your body around to get at it as it is on top of the diff.
Make sure not to push dirt back into the hole when installing the new one or drop the mounting screw into the diff.
