I purchased an Odyssey PC1200 MJT-A per the Odyssey website for my 2006 Vette but it doesn't fit. It's much smaller and the stock battery holder won't hold it at all because there is no lip on the bottom of the battery and because of it being smaller...it just slides around. Has anyone used an Odyssey battery in a 2006?
I noticed on their website that it says some modifications may be necessary. I wish they would have pointed that out when I purchased the thing.
Yeah you're going to have to either fabricate something or buy one of those aluminum or steel hold down/battery boxes (and likely even have to alter that a little bit as well) that use the stock bolt hole and lip to get this thing secured in there.
It can be done.
I put the next size smaller Odyssey in recently. 925 I think. I got a universal mount. Drilled 2 holes in the existing battery tray and had to modify the "J" bolts (cut them shorter) that came with the universal kit and had to notch the plastic to fit the battery top perfectly. Hasn't moved since, including an HPDE.
I bought the same pc1200 mjt and also ran into the same installation problems you did I ended up going with the pc1230 it fits perfectly and I ended up saving money by not purchasing a hold down kit http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc1230.htm
