^ I like it...might be the way I'm going. Do you think getting the other one (not flat bottom one" would fix your issue with the blinkers?
The "round" one is mainly for mounting around a speedo or tach on a motorcycle. You could certainly mount it in a C6, but I don't think it would look as good or give you any better view of the turn signal arrows. Actually, after having driven a lot of miles with mine I never found it to be a problem seeing when the turn signal arrows were blinking.
I think the flat-bottomed one lends itself to a lot more mounting options than the round one does.

When you mounted yours did you use the flat bottom part to mount it on that bracket you made?...If I did the round one I'd mount it in a very similar way, in the same place as yours. I'd just use the back side of it instead of the bottom. A simple L bracket would do the trick.
It might not be an issue for me actually...I'm 5'8" and sit with my seat all the way down so maybe it won't even block my view.
In my old car, I had a shift light mounted in one of the air vents, so you couldn't see it except when a very bright light told you it was time to shift. I loved it.....anyone done that?

Yes, the bracket I used was actually a "U-shaped" piece of metal. In the picture of it you can see one leg is on top of the instrument panel insert, then it goes down behind the shift light, and then bends back under the shift light.
So....that little bracket I made would hold either the flat bottom or the round shift light.
I never have had a problem seeing the turn signal blinker arrows, and I think the flat bottomed shift light looks better mounted the way I have it than the round one would.
Also with flat bottomed one, you could mount it a number of other places, where the round one might not mount other places as well.
