Default Anyone running Comp LSR cam?

Just doing a bit of research before jumping in. I've been looking into installing a Comp Cams LSR profile cam into my '05, just wanted to get some feedback on general driveability and power. Dyno graphs and track times would be appreciated also. Thanks.

What specs?

Do the LSR cams use LSL lobes? Or LSK? Or something different? I don't recall.

There are two that I am looking into the 227/235 and the 231/239 both are around .61X"/.62X" lift on a 113 LSA. I believe the LSR line up uses the Xteme Energy LSL lobes, not sure though.

The LSR cams use LSL lobes. Confusing? Go figure. I have two blower cams using the LSL lobes. Both custom grinds. The LSL lobes are supposed to be agressive while maintaining valve train stability. The LSK lobes are higher lift per degree of duration at the expense of valve train stability. Still a lot of LSK cams around, but they are getting harder to find. Folks are coming around to realizing you don't need stupid high lift to make power. .629 lift at 215 degrees duration on a well known blower cam...I can hear valve springs crying for mercy....

Yeah, the LSL lobes are much better for valvetrain wear and tear than the LSK.

Either of those cams would be good, but you have to know how much cam you will be comfortable with. One will have about 5 degrees of overlap and the other almost 10.

If it's a manual car either would be pretty easy to drive in a daily driver application, but an auto would start to get temperamental at 10 degrees overlap. A lot of it has to do with the quality of tuning though.

The cam I'm putting into my auto C6 has 20 degrees of overlap, but it'll be more cam than most people want to deal with

If you want a suggestion for someone who is very good at tuning large cams in the Houston area let me know and I'll talk to you via PM. My car will be in for the cam swap in about 1.5 weeks. You're more than welcome to come check it out if you're interested.

My understanding is the LSK & LSL share the same lobe profile from .006 to .050 so the valve will close nicely, the difference is from .050 to .200 If you search over on LS1 Tech some good info.

I just removed a LSL 243/247 .623/.623 114+2 if that is something you might be interested in, it has about 300 miles. There will be AFR 8019 springs & retainers as well. 1/2 price

I am running LSL lobes, 235/239 on a 112 + 4 in my 2006 M6, this cam has 13 degrees of overlap and it is noticeable in certain driving areas. After my retune the car is running very well, the 2 cams you mentioned both look very good.

Thanks for the offer, but I have a stock displacement LS2 (M6) and that sounds a bit more aggressive then a cam I personally would use for daily driving.

No track times yet, car put down 452/421 with a base tune. Should have new numbers in 2-3 weeks, just had the re-tune performed a few weeks back and the car runs noticeably stronger now. I am thinking the car will be closer to 460/425 now.

Tell me about your goals and I can help get you into the right camshaft.
We have a cam install special currently going on and if one of our cams don't fit your needs, I can custom grind you one to your liking.
