Default FogLights - Adjusting Aim

A couple of months ago I installed a set of HID foglight bulbs in my 2005 C6 coupe, and the install went quite well and what an improvement.

However, I've noticed recently that I need to adjust the aim (up/down) of the right one as it is a little low.

I found the hole in the bottom of the brake duct and using a Torx bit two extensions and a 3/8 inch ratchet handle found (by feel) the adjuster (I think). When I tried to turn it, it was very very hard to turn (as in I did'nt get it to turn........without fear of breaking something).

So how much force should be required to turn the adjuster and does anyone have a picture of what it looks like?

This weekend I'm going to take the front portion of the wheel liner out and have a good look and see if I can adjust the aim by actually being able see what I'm turning.

Thanks

Should be a stalk sticking out thebottom of the fog light housing and should turn with just your fingers. It appears to be a 6 or 7mm allen.

Like you said drop that forward panel where the brake duct is and you'll have a good look at the fog housing.

go here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...t-problem.html

its the adjuster to the outside of either light.

Thank you very much. Should be quite easy to get done, now that I know what I'm dealing with. I will post how it goes.

I was not able to adjust the right-hand foglight by hand, only the left. I loosened the front of the fender liner so I could look inside and see what I was doing. A few cranks with an allen wrench and the right side was up to the same level as the left.

If the adjuster is any way like the adjusters on my 03 Tahoe's headlights you may need to hit it with some PB before attempting to turn it. I broke a couple of adjusters on the Tahoe until I learned to make sure the screw wasn't corroded.

I finally got the time to get to the foglight properly (jacked up the car, took off the wheel and removed the wheel liner........and I used a jackstand). This gave me good access to the back of the light without fighting the wheel liner and the wheel getting in the way.

I had previously sprayed the aduster. A note that the rod sticking out of the back of the adjuster should also be sprayed as it moves in and out when adjusting.

The adjuster takes a Torx 40, and turning it clockwise (tightening) lowers the light and counterclockwise (loosening) raises it. Also , having good access allowed me to hold the adjuster housing with one hand while turning (with a 3/8 inch ratchet) the adjsuter with the other hand. The adjuster assembly does not look or feel overly strong.

I also noticed that the adjuster is on a bit of an angle which would make it difficult to adjust through the hole in the brake duct........a universal joint or wobble extension would most likely be required.

Anyway, all done and thanks for the help.

Using this access point worked fairly well/easily for me.
