I haven't done a mod in a while so to satisfy my itch I decided to upgrade my Z51 brakes, which I thought were very good for my needs. I was feeling a little vibration and I knew the pads were getting low. I only had 24K miles on them and there was some life left on the pads, but I needed a project.
A BBK is way too expensive and since I don't track the car, other than autoX some time at the strip, that was out. I finally decided on replacing the rotors with DBA 4000/5000 combo and upgrading to stainless lines. I added some Hawk pads, speed bleeders and Motul racing fluid to the mix. The whole job took me about 10 freeking hours (replacing the brake lines is time consuming). I bedded the brakes and they feel great but I haven't given them a good test in the twisties or at high speeds. The SS lines give me a little firmer pedal but nothing significant. Speed bleeders are awesome and I bled the entire system in about 15 minutes; just crack the bleeder and pump away. It was a satisfying project and the new rotors look pretty slick

Reason: Grammar
When you bled the brakes, I'd gues that you didn't completely remove all the old fluid unless you had some way of opening the ABS circuit. Dealers can do this, and I think there's a trick for an owner to do so, but I dunno what it is.

I would keep an close eye on the speed bleeders.
Some in the AutoX crowd are having issues with speed bleeders.
Perhaps if you don't tax the brakes like the racers, you might be ok!

Shops use the Tech II device, but I'm not too concerned about the small amount of fluid in the ABS. I generally replace fluid once a year anyway so I keep it pretty fresh.
