Default Help with a squeal noise

car: 05, MN6, Z51, stock under the hood minus headers.

symptoms: sound comes and goes. Sounds like a belt. does not change with the RPMs. only makes when moving, so i cant hear it when its parked. does not go away when i turn off the a/c. does get louder when i turn, especially a turn to the left.

any thoughts?

Get a squirt bottle with only water in it. Spray it on your belt as your car is running. If the squeal goes away, you know it is only the belt. Slap a new belt on if that is the case. It worked for me on my yukon. I recommend the goodyear gatorback belt. It seems to work the best for me than any other kind I have tried.

If it goes away as you stated with a/c turned off it seems this would be the area to focus. If you haven't checked, take a close look at the harmonic balancer while the car is running. Make sure it isn't wobbling. If it is, your lucking to catch it early. Replace it. If it isn't wobbling you may need to replace the a/c belt, idler, or tensioner.

i said it does not go away when i turn the a/c off.

i can assume it is something on the belt system since i think the reason it is louder when turning is because of the power steering kicking in. there is plenty of power steering fluid.

My bad on the a/c, but still check the balancer for wobble.

Constant or once in a while, possibly more of a squeal/chirp at start up ? Goes away after warm-up?..maybe water pump? Don't know about the turning etc..

i dont notice it every time i drive and it gets hard to hear sometimes, so its hard to say its constant or not. it does not go away after warm up.
