Starting a new thread, as the last has been closed. I just purchased my first vette, a 2011 GS convertible. I love it... except for the key fob performance.
The previous thread has mentioned issues concerning antenna placement being in the B pillars and at the trunk. Where are they in the convertible?
I've been having "Missing key fob" messages right from the start. I've been carrying my keys and nothing else in my right pants pocket. I do carry my cell phone on my belt on the right side and I have a cell phone charger plugged into the center console outlet, and park under a garage door opener, like most of America. I'll have to experiment with all of these combinations, but it would be nice to know the antenna placements. Thanks for your help!
I generally keep my fob in my right pocket or on my right side. If I put a cell phone in the same pocket, I can have "missing fob" and cannot start the car. Cell phone on my other side or in the console cupholder, no problems.
My feeling is that the cell phone holster location is too close to the fob. Try separating them (fob in other side pocket?) and see how it goes.
My car is picky...it won't start with the FOB in the trunk but it will start with it outside on the trunk...it won't open the doors unless I am right on top of it sometimes other times it opens right up....sometimes it won't see the FOB in the passenger seat other times its fine...
