Default Threw an engine code today.....

Engine light came on today while cruising, so I stopped by my favorite private shop and the reader spit out the following:

P0030
H02S Heater Control Circuit
(Bank 1, Sensor 1)

Which O2 sensor is this? Can I change it in the car or do I have to drop headers? Any info would be great...

EDIT: found that it's driver side. I'm going to check out the DIY section

Anyone want to chime in on this? From what I understand it's just the driver side pre cat O2 , so I'll just replace and should be good to go. Has anyone done one recently , should I expect any issues? Thanks in advance

Aren't the O2 sensors covered under the extended pollution control Warranty?

Driver's side front O2 i believe. Do you have any mods. Also, make sure the wires are not touching your exhaust. I had this issue on mine, and it burnt and grounded the wire.

Just because that DTC says Sensor doesn't mean the sensor is bad. All that says is that is where a fault was discovered. Something else (such as the previously mentioned wiring) could have caused the fault. Just doing a blind replacement of the sensor is like spinning yourself around, putting a blind fold on and then shooting in the dark and trying to hit something. You may be getting that code because you have a tune issue or there is something else affecting the left bank of the engine.

It should take 15-30 minutes to swap it out, once the car is up in the air and the exhaust is cold, I would do both fronts though. I can't believe the dealer would warranty the sensors on a modified emission system. While you are under there check to make sure the wires are not damaged in any way.

Ok so I did an O2 swap, but when I went out I had forgot my car keys but figured I would just get it done since it was already on jack stands. Replacing the O2 was easy got everything bolted back up, tucked, tied etc. Grab my car keys go up to the door......it won't open. Battery is completely dead! I have an 05 and pretty sure it was put in reverse but second guessing myself now. Anyway this could be related to the code that was thrown?
