I have a 2008 C6 with F55 and have added Z51 sway bars front and rear. Still running the Goodyear runflats, although I have a new set of Michelin PS2's to go on in about a month - just finishing off the runflats first.

The car is exhibiting oversteer when I get on the gas in the apex of the turn. Would the ZR1 front sway bar reduce the oversteer. Or will the replacement of the Goodyear runflats with the PS2's be enough. What size are the ZR1 front and rear sway bars?

Wait until you have new tires on the car then decide. I have Z51 sways with my 08 C6, F55 and find the car to be very balanced with either the Firestone runflats or the R888. Both sets of tires where bought this year. All though I do have poly bushing throughout.

 

Did you get the heavy or light pfadt bars?

Good to know. I may just put the new tires on sooner and see if they fix the oversteer. But I am having some fun using up the runflats

Which poly bushings did you get and where did you get them from?

 

To correct, use one of the following

1. reduce rear tire pressure
2. Softer rear spring or sway bar
3. Softer tires
4. Increase rear downforce

the pfadt johnny oconnell sway bars are really nice for a driver that see's some track use or just fun windey roads. really nice when uses with matching shocks.

corvettes of houston has great price on both.

 

The ZR1 bars, while better for F55, are balanced for wider rims/tires in mind.

 

Driver WT, you can try two things. First, you can run slightly higher pressures in your front tires. They carry just more than half of the weight of the car and are smaller than the rears, so a little higher pressure will increase the tire's spring rate to match the relatively higher load.

Second, you could just replace the front bushings with poly ones, and leave the rubber bushings in the rear. I'm thinking that if I go with just the Z51 sways, this is probably how I'll run. I know I'm not as experienced of a driver as TMyers, so a hair more understeer would probably be a safer thing for me.

 

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like I will keep the Z51 bars until I can try them with the new Michelin PS2 tires. Although I am tempted by the Johnny O'Connell sway bars.

 

I have the Hotchkis adjustable, but I also have Toyo R888 295/35/18 fronts and 335/35/18 rears.

Our Johnny O'Connell bars have a little more front bias built into them than the stock C6 bars do, this is to prevent some of the oversteer that is exhibited in the stock suspension. When matched with the Johnny O'Connell shocks the car becomes easier to drive, as well as more stable in corners.

Our advice is to get the PS2's on the car and then evaluate the cars performance. The stock run flats are tough to judge suspension performance on, with some stickier tires you may find the car feels much better.

 

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at the Johnny O'Connell sway bar and shock package. I have the F55 shocks, so I would like to try to retain them if possible (mostly because they are original to the car). I do need to get the new tires on and then see what we have for handling and front to rear balance. The next step might be just Johnny O'Connell sway bars. Do you have any customers that have retained the F55 shocks in combination with the Johnny O'Connell sway bars?
