Default Halltech MF103 impressions

These are my initial impressions after about 20-25 minutes of driving. Air temp as 88*F. Kind of cool considering relentless heat we've had.

IT WORKS!

The car started instantly and idled perfectly. I ran several WOT runs, usually 2nd gear about 3500 rpm and I could feel it pulling harder. I'd say much harder but my *** dyno hasn't been calibrated, but it is definitely faster, particularly starting in the mid range. I did notice after each upshift I'd hear a very brief "ping" or rattle. I'm pretty sure this is because of the improved efficiency?? (I seem to recall back in the day you'd time a car at that point and set it). Also, the car feels "cleaner", a hair more snappy in light throttle, and just feels good, like the car lost a few hundred pounds of weight.

The MAF forward design is a winner.

I was able to reuse my 6 point torx, and the tabs that hold down the old airbridge also can hold down the bee hive. They're easier to remove later if you want to get to the filter. Just pull up the center pin and pull the tab out.

It's a Z06 using the stock naca duct for air. I don't know if it'd be worth it to try and open up some other holes for more air.

No surging either. I'll put more miles on it the next few days to let it adjust more.

Good work, Jim Hall.

It was the first mod I did and I've been nothing but overly satisfied with it. The rubber gaskets on the beehive started to peel off and I sent Jim a PM about it-within 3 days, he had shipped me a new set of rubber gaskets in a new design that went on perfectly and haven't moved since I installed them.

Their customer service is outstanding and their product looks like it should have come from the GM factory. The fit/finish is perfect and I get compliments on it nearly everytime I go to the track.

Mine are coming off as well. I'm sure it's a heat issue. One side more than the other.

Ya, the original design had them glued on--the new design fits over the edge of the beehive nice and snug and looks even better.

Heh heh.......a premier product that looks GM stock and performs like a champ. I am really glad I took the leap and invested in this system for my ride!!

Sounds like a little detonation going on after the shift, probably because it's a little lean and the load is higher at lower rpms. It'll compensate with fuel and pull timing, but I'd get it tuned to make even more power safely

I'm beginning to think it's a quick whistle sound when I let off to shift.

This is the first. It took alot of convincing and research to make me switch from the stock intake. I'm glad I did.

Did a lot of reading here on the forum and elsewhere. I personally believe this is the best documented setup and the best bang for the buck system.
