I just bought a slightly used 2008 Corvette (6500 miles) that has the 'Heavy Duty Brake package (J55) with the Z51 option. The rear brakes are squealing on light 'in town' braking situations which is 90% of my driving. My local dealer has turned the rotors, applied anti-squeel and replaced the brake pads. None of which corrected the problem. Has anyone resolved this issue.
Mine too. You most likely need to do the "brake bedding" process. Search the forum and you will find it. I did it and it took away 95% of the squealing, but its back after say 2k miles and I will have to try it again.
sometimes, w. performance brake pads, one or two relatively medium to heavy, or hard stops will cure the brake noise for awhile. slow, gentle stops tend to make the brakes squeal over time.
Thanks all...... I have bedded the brakes and they only were quiet for about a week but the squeal did return. Has anyone used the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 pads to address the brake squeal problem??
Use the brakes harder. Don't baby them. Best way to get rid of squeal.

Z51 stock pads tend to squeal a little, but provide good all-around performance for a street driven car.
If mine start to bother me, I do a couple of hard (but not ABS) decels from 60-10 mph, drive normally for five minutes to let them cool, then get on with life.
Some of those brake-bedding procedures that may be appropriate for other pads, will use up a good portion of your street pads just doing the bedding.
As the OP says this happens under light braking so the thing to do is to avoid light braking. Drive deeper toward the stop before using the brakes and then use them harder. It takes discipline to do this but it can be done risk free as most people are eager to tap their brakes far too soon anyways.
I just got a 2007 Z-51 convertible and mine are doing the samething.
10/10/2011.....I just ordered the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 for my 2008. I will post in a few weeks to let all that responded how that worked for me!!
10/13/2011.... I ordered the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 on Monday and received them on Wed and had them put on today (Thur). I went through the bedding process despite the mist and light rain. I am not noticing squeal noise and will report back in a week. It was about a week after the stock GM brake pads were put on that the squealing came back!!
10/24/2011.... After a little over a week I am reporting that I still have a slight queal when applying the brakes in normal city type driving (light pressure). There has been an improvement with the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 brakes and for those that like numbers.... if my previous squealing was a 10 (bad) then the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 knocked it down to about a 3. I am going to 're-bed' the brakes again to see if there is an improvement and if that does not work then I will just turn up the radio!! ;-)
