High Beam / Turn Signal problem

High Beam / Turn Signal problem
I've got a problem in where I turn on the right turn signal and the high beams turn on on my 2007 C6. Not all of the time, but almost. Pain in the a** when changing lanes and turning! Other drivers must think I'm a lunatic. I've tried moving the lever to flash-to-pass and manual high beams thinking that the switch is flaky, but the problem still exists. Any clues as to what it may be? Anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks

Here is some information that may help you. My problem was the combination turn signal/high-low beam switch. Also called a mutifunction switch. I called around to my local auto parts stores and dealers and nobody had one in stock. Even the dealer said it would have to be shipped in. Those places all wanted $50-$60 for it, so I decided to look online and found I could buy it for about $30. The one I ordered came from Rock Auto, but you can find it at a lot of different places. The part number for mine was D6244E. I ordered it with priority shipping and it cost $35. Delivery was about 2-3 days. So long as you have tilt/telescopic column and no rear fog lamps I think this would work for you as well.
As for the installation, it took me about 30 minutes. The upper and lower trim pieces just snap apart, but you need to make sure the column is extended all the way to gain clearance. I used instructions from alldatadiy.com. I paid a small fee, but figured I would have access to all of the repair data I would need for the next year. Basically, here is the rundown of steps:
1. Remove the upper and lower steering wheel colunm covers
2. Remove the wire harness straps (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly (1) and the column
3. Remove the wire harness assembly (1) from the wire harness strap (2).
4. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (1).
5. Remove the multifunction turn signal switch assembly (1).
You can get all of drawings of disassembly on alldatadiy. I don't want to post them here for fear of copyright infringement.
I hope this helps you.

OK GOT IT:
Questions though...
1. Remove the upper and lower steering wheel colunm covers - DO THESE SNAP off?
2. Remove the wire harness straps (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly (1) and the column
3. Remove the wire harness assembly (1) from the wire harness strap (2).
4. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) - I think mine may be already off... are these located under the column itself?
5. Remove the multifunction turn signal switch assembly (1). - THIS IS THE GOAL!

Ok, first, the column covers snap apart, and it takes a bit of wrangling to get the back side of them disconnected. I found they will take quite a bit of abuse and still be fine. I am going to try and put the full instructions up and see if it will work...

Glad this helped you. I wish I could have found the information this easily myself. It took me a bunch of searches and then finally the alldatadiy site info got me where I needed to be. The installtion was a lot easier than I expected and the hardest part was getting the covers off.
As for the rear fog lamps, beats me, I looked all over and couldn't find a description of a vette with them on.

I wish we had them over here as they are an important safety feature. The important thing is to remember to turn them off when not needed but when they are, they work!

My lever should be delivered TODAY! Will post how it turns out!
BTW you were right. While driving (I know not the smartest thing to do) I yanked down on the plastic cover and lo and behold came right apart! *Grinned the rest of the way home.

Wow!
Thank you very much for taking the time to post. I have the same problem: high beam turns on sometimes when right turn signal is on. It took me about 10 seconds to find your post using Google and site:corvetteforum.com. I ordered the part from Rock Auto for $30, includes shipping.
I really appreciate it! I am quite thrilled that I do not have to remove the steering wheel and to disassemble the steering column.

I got the part, but it took my husband and I about 2 and a half hours to install.
For a temporary fix while you're waiting for your part put the headlights in ON mode instead of AUTO mode. I did this for five days and my high beams only clicked on once.

I finally got around to replacing mine last week. It took me longer than I had expected. I never could reassemble the upper and lower trim assemblies properly. They just won't snap into place anymore. The signal switch works like brand new, though -- no more high-beaming people.
