Default Oil Filters

Recently post a thread regarding my search for a GM Hi-Perf Oil Filter..I had used the UPF48R, but everyone here on the Forum suggested I must use the UPF44R...well guess what, the 44R does not fit....the threads are different, anyway it would not screw on to the filter boss...The 48R fits perfectly...Now I've got to return the 44R and get the 48R that I have been using on my LS2 2007 Z51 Coupe...

MY2007 and later LS2 & 3 engines have always required the 48 series filters which includes the change in thread pitch from the older 44/46 series. I have had an 07 LS2 vert for 4-1/2 years. The only 2006 engine to use the 48 series was the MY2006 Z06 LS7 which I also owned. So I guess what you are saying is that you listened to the wrong folks.

You are welcome!! I guess there would have been a lot less confusion if GM had simply waited until the introduction of the LS3 which appeared in MY2008 to change the standard vette engine over to the 48 series or maybe change the MY2006 LS2 to 48 series which is when the 48 was introduced with the new LS7. It worked out well for me in any case as I was already stocking PF48s due to my 06Z06 when I purchased the 07 vert for my wife.

[QUOTE=LKicklight;1578915481]Recently post a thread regarding my search for a GM Hi-Perf Oil Filter..I had used the UPF48R, but everyone here on the Forum suggested I must use the UPF44R...well guess what, the 44R does not fit....the threads are different, anyway it would not screw on to the filter boss...The 48R fits perfectly...Now I've got to return the 44R and get the 48R that I have been using on my LS2 2007 Z51 Coupe...[/QUOTE

If you had read my posts, and 3-4 other posts by others telling you which filter your 2007 uses, on your other thread, you would have realized that the 2007 LS2 uses the PF48/UPF48R filter, not the UPF44R.

'The 2005 & 2006 LS2 takes the PF44/PF46/UPF44 filter and the 2007 LS2 takes the PF48/UPF48R filter. The two are not interchangeable. Besides having two different mounting thread size and pitch, the PF44/PF46/UPF44 does not have a bypass valve. The PF48/UPF48R has a bypass valve installed as the engine does not have the bypass valve included."

" Did you read my post #13 above? You posted that you have a 2007 LS2. The 2007 LS2 uses a different filter then the 2005 LS2 and the 2006 LS2."

The replies to your other thread were absolutely clear as to which oil filter the 2007 LS2 specifies, so don't make a post stating we gave you the wrong information. Only one reply, and from a Chevy Dealer(LOL), told you to use the 44R filter, and then, I, and others posted that he was giving you incorrect information.

High Performance oil filters normally incorporate Spindle bearings that meet ABEC9 tolerances.
