Default Clutch Fluid

Is GM Brake and Clutch Fluid part # 88958860 the same as GM Clutch Fluid part #12345347 which just states Hydraulic Clutch Fluid?

The latter Hydraulic Clutch Fluid states Dot 3 Fluid with Friction Modifiers and the Clutch and Brake Fluid states Dot 4.

Well I guess I just answerd my question about them not being the same but my question is which is better or is either one fine. Hopefully Ranger will voice his opinion. I also sent him a PM so if I hear back I will update this thread.

Just as a reference I am having no issues with the pedal sticking probably due to changing the fluid all the time and I do not track the car at all.

You did answer your question.....they aren't the same. As far as asking Ranger his opinion......you've been a member of the forum for a very long time and I'm sure you've read his write ups. Save yourself alot of money and grief and go to Wally World and get some Prestone DOT 4 for use as your clutch fluid. That's what all the experts and pros seem to recommend and that's what I notice most of the forum members, including I, am using.

This is the first I read about the Prestone Dot 4, thanks. I probably haven't read the clutch threads in a while but that was where I got the #12345347 part number.

Please forgive me.....I re read my post and it seemed as though I were lecturing you and that was not my intent. I should have been more respectful .

with Delbert!!

I use Prestone DOT 4 and it has worked great for me for many, many miles of both street and track event driving.

Here's a link to my fellow Ranger Ranger's thread on cleaning your clutch fluid:

Prestone DOT 4 has very respectable dry and wet boiling points, it's cheap, and it's easy to find.

ATE Super Blue for both clutch and brake. I do a modified Ranger method: Replace the fluid in the reservoir once every oil change or brake bleed. -pp

I also use SuperBlue for both my clutch and the MovIT big brake kit on my '05 Lingenfelter coupe.
