Anybody have any experience with these? Can a paper filter filter down to 8 microns for up to 10,000 mi as these are advertised, or is that just hype on the aftermarket side. It seems these are a superior to the disposable filters. They are pricey but cheaper than a premature rebuild or break down.
Don't see a snake oil product. Well made high flow filter with a low micron rating. I would think it is over kill for most street Vettes though. Later! Frank
It isn't that reusable. This is what I read for 25-194 - CM 3.4" BILLET SPIN-ON FILTER 22MM THREAD 2 5/8 O-RING (25-194) which appears to me to be the right one for a C6.
The filters bottom cap is easily removed with four bolts for filter element inspection and replacement. A CM 2-1/4" tall synthetic fiber filter element which flows 12 GPM of hot engine oil with no loss of pressure and filters down to 8 microns comes preinstalled.
The filter:
26-200 - CM 2-1/4" TALL ELEMENT 8 MICRON OIL FILTER SINGLE (26-200) $16.80 <~Doesn't say how often the filter must be replaced
This is what I found online about AC Delco filters
AC Delco has developed a C6 Corvette Oil Filter that utilizes synthetic material to capture particles down to 5 microns in size.
Bottom line is only the outside is reusable. It is a pretty expensive oil filter change if you ask me and then it doesn't seem to filter as well.

It says 10.000 mi intervals somewhere
I'm looking into better oil filters because I seem to have tons of metal on the magnet when I change the oil (about 1200mi hard driven miles) The cheap disposable filters use a bypass as a backup and may not be filtering the oil at all. Thats not a risk I want to take.

This is pure baloney. If you are getting enough of anything to plug up that cheap disposable filter, you're looking at a new engine not a new oil filter. Get real.
Have used them for years on corvettes, motorcycles, and hot rods with no adverse effect. Got several waiting for my next project, will use them on any of my cars. Do what you want, say what you may!!!!

Think about how an oil filter works, too much pressure (from driving hard) may cause the oil to pass through the bypass. I cant afford to trade my car in every couple of years for a new one so I'm gonna try to make this one last. If that means spending $130 for insurance then at least its PURE baloney and not some cheap paper baloney
I wonder if two Neodymium magnets ($10) would work as well...
GP
I'm sure they would. The only problem is ensuring the magnets stay on the filter. The FilterMag is curved and conforms to the round shape of the filter providing a large surface area.
