I have an 08 coupe and I purchased a GM Z-51 upgrade kit which included GM front and rear z-51 rotors and brackets. These new rotors look differently from other rotors that I have purchased at other part stores, these rotors appear to have a gray paint applied to the entire rotor. My question is, should I remove this coating before installation or should I just let the pads wear the coating off???? Also, what is the torque spec on the caliper brackets?
You can paint the hats if you don't like the grey. I painted mine black, and the pad wears off the rest of the grey. I just painted over the grey and it has lasted and looks much better.
If you aren't going to be pulling them on and off, use some locktite on the caliper bolts. Also, grease the pins.
