Default First Day at the Tracks

Normally I just use the vette as a highway bruiser, but my buddy finally convinced me to take it to the drag strip to see how she performs. I don't think I did too shabby considering I was running on stock run flats. With 490+ hp on tap at the ground though I know I can shave another second off those times surely once I get some proper shoes and more seat time.

Any tips for an A6 auto? For all 3 runs I put the car in Sport Mode with competitive driving turned on. In the first run I just hit the gas when the light went green. In the 2nd run I powerbraked to about 2500 rpm and launched. In the 3rd run I tried launching from the powerbrake again.

Nice mph!!!

Your 60' time is killing you, lots of wheelspin I am sure on stock rubber.
For every 0.1 you reduce in your 60' you will drop 0.2 in the 1/4.
I remember a day in my stock (except cai) LS2 C6 manual tranny, I was stuck running 12.7-12.9s, my buddy said, stop planting it off the line and justslowly roll in to the throttle and count 1 mississippi, by the end of mississippi be at full throttle.

Result was a 12.55 just by reducing my 60' times from 2.1 and 2.2 to a 2.0.

My other ls2 c6 automatic I could just plant it and cut a 1.9 60', but it was stock, you have a lot of power to put down.

I figure you should easily cut a 1.9 60', maybe even a 1.8.
Your second run looks great, figure if you cut a 1.93 60', that will drop your time to a 11.35@123-124+.
A 1.88 puts you at 11.25 and a 1.83 at a 11.15.

Sticky tires and I see 10s in your future at 124-125+.

Keep in mind I haven't tracked it in about 3 years, but that is my advice.

Lastly, my stock Viper was running 12.3@116-118 on 1.8 60's.
Just by putting sticky rubber on it I dropped to 11.8@120 on 1.8 60' just by not spinnning on gear changes.
On a more aggressive launch I cut a 1.67 60' and ran a 11.6@120+.
It is all in the launch and tires.

Awesome advice. Thanks! Would you recommend that for track tires, skip the run flats altogether and just get some really beefy slicks?

Slicks are weird feeling on the track, I would rather run drag radials than slicks, but on the Vette you could probably get by with a slightly stickier regular radial instead of runflats or drag radials and not give up handling on a daily basis.

On the Viper I ran Kumho R- compounds out back.
