Default Transmission Fluid

Getting ready to change my trans. fluid in our 2007 MN6 LS2 Coupe..Understand the RED LINE Fluid is far superior to the stock DEX III specified by GM...Need to know from someone that has done this to know how much fluid is required....thanks

Kind of depends on your car. In my 2005 it took about 1.8 quarts. I have read from 1.6 to 1.8.

However I just filled mine until I could put my pinky in the hole (lol) and feel the fluid. This is the way I would do it just to make sure it's full.

Oh, and I went with the GM DEX III and the tranny fills great. Also did the differential at the same time.

I thought it was 4 Quarts for the Manual Transmission. I used Royal Purple Synchromax.

Two Quarts for the Rear Gear Fluid (I used Amsoil Severe Gear Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) 75-90) with 4 oz. of Amsoil Slip -Lock Differential Additive. Do about 10 figure eights in a parking lot somewhere after the lube change. Its important to get the new gear lube up into/clinging to the packs.

Oh you're right. I had the diff on my mind. The tranny is 3.6 - 4

RedLine works great. I put it in and it shifted smoother.

That is correct. I have changed tranny fluids on several vettes. It will definitely not take 4 qts to refill. Actually it will be just less than 3.8 qts.

I was disappointed and found it changed nothing.

I changed mine to Redline about six months ago. It's still occasionally difficult to put the car in first gear at a stop, but the improvement has been noticeable for me. Maybe the improvement was just due to fresh fluid... not sure...

I used Redline D4-ATF in my 01Z and didn't really see an improvement. Also used AMSOIL ATF in the 06Z also with no real improvement. Both changes were done at ~20k. Both were still worthwhile changes at the time and upgraded the factory fill mineral oil DEX 3 to full synthetics.
