I have a 2007 base coupe with 30,000 ,miles my automatic transmission has locked up I can not get the car out of neutral or drive. the car still is requesting that I put it in park, and the car seems on well after I have turned it off. What do I do? I can not get the car to the dealer until the morning. I hope I am not running the battery down

DARO: My 07 A6 Z51 had a problem like that at around 123,000 miles. When I drove to the house every thing was working well. The next day I could not even get in to the car with the FOB. I could go to accessory mode, but the car would not start up and the shifter would not move. I called a buddy of mine and after trouble shooting we found out the problem was the automatic transmission module, which is inside the pan...
The module would gound out and was blowing a fuse that is located in the fuse box in the engine bay. As for the shifter, he removed the console lid and subframe and was able to get under the shift indicator plate (P R N D S) so that we could play with the shift mechanisms, "which was a little plastic level". After that I placed it in "N" and had a flat bed take it a way.
