Default How to make back fire

The other posts are about stopping back fire, but lots of Ferraris and Lamborghinis do this, and you could probably consider it a feature.

e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1KN_kOzvVg

Is this something people do to their vettes ever? esp. z06

Obviously, backfire can be accomplished a few ways, some better than others.

I pulled the fuse out for the NPP exhaust so they stay open all the time. Down shifting causing the rumbling backfire.

K, pulled it. It's in my garage, but really didn't notice any difference in sound. I verified that I pulled the right fuse while looking at the chart (bottom right fuse). Anyways

Considering they are quite affordable, i am thinking about it, although I like the BB exhausts too. Problem is, they look like a lot of work to install. Correct me if i'm wrong

I love the decel popping and gurgling when pulling up to a traffic light. I get the occasional small fireball out the tailpipe after hard accelleration as well. It's kind of a warning to others (like flashing gang signs).

If you have access to a lift it's a breeze. On the ground in your driveway, not so much. I suppose that's the case with everything though.

gutting the cats or removing totally (as in the case with most headers) allows more fire to escape (and adds power)

Want impressive backfires? Get an older car with a carburetor and a manual trans, run it up in second, turn the key off, pump the gas a few times and then turn the key back on. Can even cause flames to shoot out the mufflers.

Then the above setup with a switch, Model A coil and a spark plug in the tailpipe would be over their heads?

Put in 3rd gear, take it to recline, let foot off gas and decel. This makes loudest pops in my car, but I have long tubes and stingers.

thats not a back fire, thats raw fuel being dumped into the exhaust manifold, a real back fire is a knock on steriods and not cool, you could drill the manifolds and pump gas or propane in, and the everybody would think your a real stud

Old school there are two kinds of backfire; a lean backfire thru the intake or a rich backfire thru the exhaust.
