So...I just found out that the adapter that connects the VR to my TB blew out, and is creating a huge vacuum leak. Car wont hold an idle and I cant drive it. The dealer says that the problem occurs bc the adapter isnt oil rated, but I should be able to get another from VR so I can drive the car. I called and left a voice mail for them, but need to know that I will have a solution quickly.
Has anyone else run into this? Any recommendations?
sounds like you are describing the silicone coupler. Did they overnight a new one?
Is it a small slit or a big hole? A heat resistant wrap might allow you drive the car home if it is stuck at the dealer and it is a slit that doesn't cause the couple to bow in.
Since this got bumped..guess I'll ask..pardon my ignorance.
WTH does VR stand for? I spent a few mins pondering last night.
Are you refering to the plastic line(s) that has the cheap white plastic clip that runs to the purge tank?

No kidding.
wrap it with duct tape or slather some RTV black sealant over the crack and let it dry, then drive it home and wait for replacement part. Hell, use a freaking propane torch to melt the split back together (while off the car!) depending on the size and material.
This does not sound like a big deal, but perhaps OP is describing something other than a piece of silicone ducting?

Not the red coupler...I just picked it up, and the Black rubber spacer that goes against the Throttle Body is split in half...
