Can I make a factory Nav unit work in a non-Bose Vette?
I have a 2006 1lt Corvette without the factory Bose stereo but I am wanting to buy a factory navigation and add it to my car. Has anyone tried to install a factory navigation in a car without the Bose stereo. If so, is it just plug and play or is extra modifications needed to make it work. Also, my car has no steering wheel radio controls and it does not have onstar so I don't need any of the integration for that. Let me know if this is possible!!

You would need the GPS antennas added as well plus a trip to the dealer to take care of the security in the NAV itself. The vin# must be programmed in or else it won't work. I don't know if the wiring harness is set up for the non-nav cars to add the nav

Melting Slicks
Short answer is YES. ITs pretty much plug and play except for the install of the GPS antenna and 1 wire for the VSS to the radio which can be tapped into harness heading to the instrument panel. The Unit will work without the VSS wire but the Nav will be "Chunky" etc
And yes, if the Nav was not unlocked then it will need to have the VIN cleared by a tech II which all dealers and most good GM performance shops have.

I just changed my stock radio in my 07 Corvette (non bose). I put a NAV radio from a 08 Corvette (with Bose). It worked just fine in my 07 Corvette.
You can test it in accessory mode and you will know it works. Once you start the engine it goes into theft lock. Dealer will charge 1 hour labor. I got my theftlock removed from an independent Corvette shop (Franks Vettes).
Took all of 2 minutes with a Tech II tool.
You will need exactly what Road Rebel says above. It works just fine. Ray Kawal set me up with what I needed for the radio. The radio harness worked just fine in my car. The VSS wire / connector came from Ray.
