I bought a Corvette specific Curb Alert from Southern Car Parts. It is set up to share with the seat heater fuse. It fits but tight up against the Mild to Wild/Dual Mode Exhaust double fuse already there. I was wondering if I could attach the Curb Alert red and black wires to the positive/negative posts in my engine compartment. I have a 2011 dry sump engine Grand Sport by the way. Does anyone know if that will work ok or if there may be a problem doing it that way? The picture(borrowed from another post) shows the two posts I am referring too. Thanks for any info you guys may have.
It will work, but you should install an inline fuse on the pos(+) wire going to the curb alert unit.
Yes, I should do the inline fuse deal. My understanding about the curb alert is that it is powered from generator power, not just battery power. Once it senses no more generator power it shuts itself off after 10 minutes. Hope that is right.
One more thing. Curb Alert is usually hooked up to a power source (Seat heaters) in this case, that is only activated when the car is started. If you use the Battery as the source, then there will always be a power draw from the battery.
Any fuse can be used to piggy back onto, as long as that fuse feeds something that only is powered when the car is running.

The way it is set up to install for power is very easy, pull the seat heater fuse and plug this in. I was just trying to figure out a way that may keep the fuse panel area clear if I needed to have the car worked on for electical issues before my warranty runs out(33 more months). I was already slightly challanged by a GM tech because of my mild to wild switch plugged in when I found out the W/S wipers would not work within a week of bringing it home. It was the wiper motor but he said be careful plugging things into the fuse panel for the warranty.
The Curb Alert is set to come on when it detects alternator voltage(>13.2 V) and shut off after 10 minutes when that voltage is not detected any longer. This battery in the rear compartment and battery +/- connections in the engine compartment are all new to me. I was just trying to figure out if those two posts are suitable for something like this or if some other connection point may be better and staying out of the gray area the GM tech warned me of.

This is incorrect!!
The Curb Alert starts up when it senses alternator voltage. (13.5-14.5vdc) The Curb Alert will shut off automatically 5 minutes after the vehicle is shut off.
Additionally, the Curb Alert module is internally overload protected so an inline fuse is not needed on the red wire.

I did install the Curb Alert using the Positive/Negative posts in the engine compartment. I also installed an inline fuse but guess I really didn't need to do that. I thought I remembered reading about that internal overload protection someplace.
Anyway everything seems to works fine, no issues. Pulled up to a few curbs and it went off everytime. It does shut off 5-10 minutes after the engone is shut off. Tested that as well, walk past the sensor and it continued to go off until the time past, then it went silent.
Did not see where anyone went thru the firewall in order to get to the pax compartment.
I am in the process of installing mine. I have the front bra on most of the time and It suggests that you install the sensor in the middle of the car which means mine would have to sense thru the black screen on the bra. Don't know yet whether that will work but I will post my results on that.

I installed mine in one the openings in the Rubber chin spoiler on my Grand Sport. Powered it from the Battery +/- connections under the hood. Ran the speaker wire in side the car on the passenger side similar to the way Southern Car Parts show in their "Corvette Specific Curb Alert installation" film clip. If you look around that area from under the hood thru the door opening and in behind the glove box you will see ways to completely hide the wire. I ran mine under the black trim piece the wipers rest on thru the door opening under a piece of rubber trim and in behind the glove box area from that point. Double face taped the speaker there.
Is there any reason we can't hook up to the 'spare' fuse position?? It seems so obvious I am sure I'm missing something and looking at my normal stupid ideas. I tested it and it does stay hot without accessory mode or ignition on. Voltage is 12 without car running and is 14 with engine running so it's not regulated or anything just a straight hookup to battery??? Why not??
I wondered the same thing. Figured it was such an obvious place to hook it up. Since they did not there must be a reason not too. As I stated above I hooked mine up in the engine compartment and only had to bring one speaker wire into the car. Been working great for about a year and half now. I also installed a RPI CF splitter since and did not have to move the sensor. Here is a picture of how it looks now with the splitter.

WONT WORK,I have a black stretch bra, I also went thru the firewall??
remove the battery 5~6 in, to the left is the harness.
