So I have a few hundred miles on my stock size RE-11s and thought I'd give everyone a bit of feedback. First, for reference I purchased my 07 with 7,000 miles on the GY supercar tires. I was able to break the GY loose in 1st and 2nd gear quite easily.
The RE-11s make much less noise and the traction is nearly unbelievable compared to the GYs. Today for a test I launched the car from a dig and essentially WOT in 1st and 2nd. I short shifted 1st at about 5k and hit 2nd with WOT. I was out of it at 65ish. These tires did not even chirp. Pretty impressive IMHO. Close course of course.
The ride is also much smoother and so far just a significant improvement in handling in every way.
So for anyone on the fence trying to decide on these tires I hope this helps.
I had the exact opposite experience.. First like 300-500 miles were AMAZING like you wrote.. after that the tires just didn't seem to get traction anywhere close to where it was!!! I didn't even do one burnout!
None the less I'm still running them re-11's as my winter tire and they are amazing in the rain I will still give them that. Maybe I just got a bad pair..... Still a decent tire and very forgiving when they spin you can completely control them unlike my ps2 runflats which when you start the spinning they glide like they are on ice.
I love my RE11's. My H&C LS2 asks the absolute maximum out of them & they have not even come close to letting me down, except the one time I was stuck in the rain while on vacation in Florida. They are also dead quiet.
