Trying not to beat a dead horse but this may be the most recent post on this topic. Through my searches I have not found if someone has just removed the engine bay EVAP Purge Solenoid and tied up the harness, then instead of completely capping off the plastic line or leaving it vent to atmosphere in the engine bay could you just run a hose attaching it back to the intake manifold so it still pulls the vapors back into the engine like intended? Obviously the code will still need to be deleted in a tune but this would eliminate leaving it open to atmosphere or completely closing it off. Would the constant vacuum from the motor cause any problems?

With the purge solenoid absent in the system you will basically have a vacuum leak…the vent valve is “normally” open at the other end…also after fueling the car with all those fuel vapors in the EVAP canister you may have trouble starting the car due to that rich mixture…after the vapors are burned then you will have a lean mixture…a double whammy !!…2 different DTC’s.

So if it was to be deleted, it would be better to just cap the plastic tube at the firewall or leave it open to atmosphere rather than have it connected directly to the intake manifold without the purge solenoid present?

I was wondering if you ever figured this out, it’s got me stumped right now.

true but the Feds aren’t doing emissions testing in Floridia so while it may still be illegal what federal agent is going to be looking under a hood?

A vacuum on a hose to the gas tank would siphon gas out of the tank.

You don't have to drill a hole in the gas cap like suggested. Many things like lawn mowers etc use a vented cap. There are caps that have a variety of different vent pressures as well.
