Hey, has anyone out there put in a volant air intake? I'm wondering how well the ram air feature works. Is it just the bottom scoop that provides a ram air effect or do the side baffles work to the same effect? Was it a good fit and easy to install? Is there another intake that has been dyno proven to provide more horsepower gains for the ls2? Thanks for any input.
This was a review of it that someone had posted in another thread:
I bought a Volant last year, runs pretty good. It definately moves a lot of air. I had some issues with the Z-51 oil cooler, just had to remove the bracket & everything was fine after that. You're not going to see a lot of reviews posted about this CAI because 1.) nobody markets it, 2.) It's not cost friendly, and 3.) It's a ****'ing PITA to install. Once I got it in though I was really happy with the way it performed but it was a lot of trouble to go through to get there.
With the side air grabbers it looks to be a little more time consuming to install, but, if I were looking for an aftermarket air breather, I would choose the Volant. Why? Because you can get the Volant with the Donaldson PowerCore filter element. I'm not installing any oiled cotton gauze filter element on my car.
The side baffles work, just not as hard as the front scoop. I have a couple of posts about it in some threads, search my user name. I'd post the links but I'm at work and on a mobile right now.
