Hello,
I've been getting the dreaded service column lock message that has prevented me from being able to start my car. I know this is an issue for the C5's and unfortunately for the 05 C6's. I replaced the battery so that is not the issue. Had to have it towed up to the dealership where they are stating I need to have my steering column lock replaced to the tune of $1300. Is this about right or am I getting gouged?

Not 100% sure but that sounds about right. It isn't difficult for someone who knows what they're doing, like a dealer tech, but there are a bunch of fiddly clips and such to deal with. The dealer probably makes a decent penny beating the flat rate manual.
Here's a DIY thread if you want to see what's involved or want to think about doing it yourself. Sorry for the headache, hopefully the new one will work correctly longer.
