Go bigger I would go for a 3600 stall. I would also go for at least 3.42 gears or even better 3.73s. The bigger the gears the more like stock a high stall converter will feel, not to mention the better performance. I had 3.73 gears with the Yank SS3600 and this combo had excellent street manners not sloppy at all. I have had 2400, 3600 & now 4000 stall converters. Select the right converter from the start and save having to swap converters more than once.

I'm thinking going auto on my next vette. Curious about average mpg and how many rpms to get going when accelerating gradually with the SS 3600?

I average about 24 MPG on the highway at about 65 mph. I am assuming you are talking about the A6 tranny with stock 2.56 gears. with the big 4.02 1st gear of the A6 tranny your car should feel very much like the stock converter. My car has an A4 tranny(3.06 1st gear) with 3.73s, my car creeps at idle when you release the brake and accelerated gradually at about 1100 rpm when I had the SS3600. With 2.56 gears your mileage should be very good on the highway locked up in OD.

I am looking at adding a cam with a 2800 stall. The cam I am looking at is the ETMC Ripper cam.
My concern is that the stall will not be big enough.
If anyone has a converter for sale let me know.
Brian
If you are planning for twin turbos with the cam in the spring I would suggest that you do the math with regard to the RPMs you would be shifting. Then pick the correct stall/rear gear combo so that you are not adding a extra shift into the mix. Select a gear ratio that is effective over the entire operating range of the powerband and then match the correct converter with it.
BTW with regard to large converters you may be better of with low STR converter so that the engine does not flash up too fast before it has a chance to build enough boost!
good luck
