305/275
I currently have Invo's 305 in the back and 275 in the front on stock wheels. I have had 0 TC issues over the 11 months and about 6K miles that I have had the tires. I do have 3.90's in a Z51 car, so my TC/AC was already a little confused. When I had the Goodyear RF's I would on a rare occasion get the Active Handling error, when under hard acceleration above 90 or 100. This problem still exists, but it is maybe 1 run out of 10 that it happens. All that happens is the speedo goes to zero and the AH message appears. Once I slow down everything goes back to normal. I have had this issue since I had the 3.90’s installed.
I looked at the revolutions per mile on the stock GY RF’s vs the 305/275 Invo’s and the 305/275 combo kept it closest. I do have to note that the 305’s are a great fit on the stock rim, but the 275’s are too faton the front. If therevolutions per mile are within a percent or two for the 255’s they would be a better option, but I have had no issues with TC as other have noted in this thread and my cars handling is excellent.

Probably. I learned the hard way that when choosing tire sets, the rear diameter needs to be 1.1 or 1.2 inches larger than the fronts. If its smaller (in my case I'm running about 0.7" larger) than 1.1", the car thinks that the rear tires are spinning faster than they should be and will activate TC. In my car (275/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear), this will occur under hard acceleration above 90 mph.
Just choose a combo with that 1.1 to 1.2" stagger and you will be fine.

I'm gonna purchase some 305/30/19's soon and I don't plan on buying fronts anytime soon. If I leave TC off and nothing happens thats completely fine with me.

Seems like everyone is in agreement that the 305/30/19 tire isn’t an issue for the rear even though it’s over the manufactures recommendation minimum wheel width (stock =10”, min recommended=10.5”). I’m curious to know if there are adverse side effects of putting a tire that’s too big for the wheel? I’m looking at getting a set of dedicated track wheels/tires. Wouldn’t handling be affected by having a tire too wide for the wheel? I would understand that for street driving or maybe even drag (I have no experience there) that it wouldn’t make a big difference. Curious to know if anyone is doing aggressive track events with this setup where handling is crucial (I’ve always run stock sizes)?
I’m looking at the Toyo R888 and DarkSide’s recommended setup of 265/35/18 (25.4” dia) and 305/30/19 (26.5” dia) are both ½” larger than the stock wheel requirements but perfectly fit the recommended stagger of 1.1”
The largest tire size you can go and stay within wheel specs is 255/35/18 (25.1” dia) and 295/30/19 (26” dia) but the stagger is dropped to 0.9”. According to Taken19, that will cause problems.
To be honest, I wouldn’t mind staying with stock sizes to avoid issues but the Nittos and R888s don’t come in stock sizes. Perhaps I should just stay with stock sizes and get RE-11s?
I have seen many posts where members get widened front wheels and widened rear 18” wheels for track setups. I have to admit, I’m skeptical about widening wheels but it seems like everyone does it with no problems. I have also read that the CCWs are the best bet but am hoping to not spend that much on a set of track wheels and am curious if there are any good setups for stock wheels.
Any insight would be very appreciated!

This is with TC on. I have to turn TC off at the track to avoid this problem.

I can say that you can feel the sidewall roll over on hard turns, but that could be partially attributes to the thinner non-runflat sidewall as well. With 3 events on this setup I have had no problems. I will be trying the 265/305 combo next but don't expect anything significant to change other than no (or reduced) TC problems. I have it narrowed down to Kuhmo Ecsta XS, Hankook R-S3 or RE-11's. Leaning towards the R-S3's due to softer compound (140) and excellent reviews from the RR and AutoX folks.

The stock front 245/40/18 for a C6 calculate at 25.71" diameter. Rear 285/35/19 = 26.85". That's a 1.14 difference. Try to keep as close to those differences as possible. Not sure how far you can deviate but I know you can't go with a 25.97" tall front without problems.

I have a spare set of stock C6 rims that I run the 275/305 combo with at the track. I only paid about $200 for all four, bought used TPMS sensors for just over $100 and a reset tool for under $100 shipped. Ended up painting the track wheels satin black and I like them better than my chrome wheels now.
Just curious as to why you aren’t considering going r-comp since these are dedicated track tires? I haven’t run r-comps before but have been told they make quite a difference and am considering making the switch. I’m running pilot sport’s now. Seems like the Toyo R888s are the popular choice.

Sounds like a good setup at a great price!

I have entertained the idea, but don't want to lose the communication that street tires give at their limit yet.

I love my 305 265 RE-11 combo on stock wheels for the street and track.
The Michelens run quite a bit wider and dont think they fit worth a darn but the RE11's fit fine although your tire guy will hate you as the RE-11's have a sidewall almost as stiff as a runflat.

So you are keeping stock fronts? That seems like a good deal... Keep me updated on how you like them... that sounds like the direction I might go!
